Alterior Studio is a South East–based interiors and antiques business founded by sisters Emily and Lois. The studio grew from a shared belief that great design doesn’t have to be exclusive — it can be personal, practical, and beautifully attainable. With a background in interior design and a passion for vintage furniture, Emily brings a storyteller’s eye to every space — focusing on how a home feels and flows, and how personality can shine through thoughtful design. Lois, with a natural gift for clarity and cohesion, finds the pieces that bring both character and function to a room. Together, they help clients create homes that feel relaxed, lived-in and layered — not overly styled, but thoughtfully pulled together. Their interiors combine old and new, balancing function with feeling. At the heart of their work is a simple idea: you don’t need a huge budget, a renovation project or a perfectly empty space to make your home feel more like you. Whether it’s a single piece of furniture or a full-room refresh, Alterior Studio meets clients where they are — offering flexible design support, one-of-a-kind vintage finds, and a warm, unpretentious approach.

We started Alterior after years of trawling antique markets for our own homes, often with pastries in hand and no real agenda — just the joy of finding pieces that spoke to us. Once our own spaces were full (and then some), we realised how much we loved the process of bringing rooms together — not in a perfect, styled-to-death way, but in a way that felt right.
We know design can feel intimidating or out of reach, especially if you don’t have a “blank canvas” or a big budget. That’s why we built Alterior to be different. We offer support at any stage — whether you’re just moving in, stuck halfway through, or simply want a little help making sense of the things you already own.
